What is URL Filtering in cyber security?

URL filtering is a method used to control access to certain websites based on the web address. It serves as a tool for enforcing web security and corporate and legal policy compliance. URL filters classify web pages into various categories, and administrators can establish policies to permit or deny access to specific categories or individual websites. Besides restricting access to inappropriate or unsafe websites, URL filtering helps protect against phishing sites and pages known to host malware, enhancing an organization's web security posture.
