What is Virtual Private Network in cyber security?

A Virtual Private Network (VPN) is a privacy solution that creates a secured and encrypted connection over a less secure network, such as the internet. VPN uses encryption and other security mechanisms to ensure that only authorized users can access the network and that the data sent over the network cannot be intercepted. It can be used to become anonymous online, securely access a private network, or bypass internet censorship. It's essential for corporate environments allowing employees to securely connect to the corporate network from remote locations.
