What is Botnet in cyber security?

a botnet is a collection of Internet-connected devices, which have been infected with malware, that hackers use to perform various tasks such as sending spam emails or flooding a network with data. Individual computers in a botnet, known as bots or zombies, often have no knowledge they’ve been compromised. Hackers control these botnets using a command and control server and use them to perform large-scale malicious acts.
