What is Security Information and Event Management in cyber security?

Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) solutions are integral to modern cybersecurity strategies. By aggregating and analyzing data from various network devices, servers, domain controllers, and more, SIEM provides real-time analysis, potent visibility, and incident response. It collates logs and other data to help identify abnormalities or potentially harmful activities within these large data volumes. It then correlates this data to distinguish notable events and alerts the concerned teams. Moreover, SIEM helps satisfy regulatory requirements by providing comprehensive reports on the organization's security infrastructure. As cyber threats evolve and increase in sophistication, the use of SIEM, in combination with other security practices like vulnerability management and orchestration systems, becomes an essential part of a successful enterprise-level cybersecurity strategy.
