What is DNS Spoofing in cyber security?

An attack that redirects traffic from a legitimate website to a fake one.

DNS spoofing, also known as DNS cache poisoning, is an attack where a malicious party alters the Domain Name System (DNS) records to redirect traffic from a legitimate website to a fake one. This can lead to users unknowingly visiting malicious sites, resulting in phishing or malware infections. DNS spoofing can be mitigated by using DNSSEC (DNS Security Extensions), which adds an additional layer of security to DNS queries, ensuring their authenticity and integrity.
